is there a katakana-version of this? or even a basic-kanji-version?

i dont' think there will be kanji... over 2000 kanji will be kinda hard to put in something like this...

Did you check the options at the top-left side of the screen? You can change the signs to hiragana, katakana or both.

Heh, I used this (or something very similar looking in the layout) to study for an exam. It wasn't even Japanese, it was just Languages of East Asia.

I've mostly forgotten everything. Shite.
