Finnish and estonia or whatever it is are totaly diffrent, some word amazingly are same alltought they evolved totaly diffrent ways, theyre kinda the same but nowhere near. But to untrained ear they do sound same, but if you know one but not the other, it sounds weird...

Finnish and Estonian are similiar, sort of like Danish and Swedish. A Finn and an Estonian can make their intentions clear with help of gestures, without any other languages than their native one involved. More complicated than shopping and maybe asking for directions... no.

They have things in common specifically in several words, pronounciation, formation of sentences and history. The languages were separated from each other three thousand years ago. But still, they belong to the same Fenno-Ugric group and are quite close too.

Personally, I speak only Finnish of the two and I have been able to talk to Estonians like that.
