iopi: Now imagine you have to watch this every time you boot your computer. It's 2015, maaan, we have TECHNOLOGY to make all kinds of marketing shit possible! > implying someone reboots more than three times in a year Also, I haven't heard much about viruses *corrupting* BIOS (stealthy BIOS viruses seem to live and prosper, as recent developments show). Backup BIOS chip is mostly a protection against hardware failures and firmware bugs (that makes manufacturer care less about them). (June 3, 2015, 8:09 pm) LordJebe: That was hilariously awesome for some reason. (June 4, 2015, 7:39 am) Anonymous: Of all of the things that can fail inside a computer, I've never really been concerned about the BIOS failing. If a HDD fails, you are hardcore SOL. Your files are gone for good. If the RAM fails, you get data corruption, which can result in a corrupted HDD. If the power supply fails, other components can get fried...like the HDD. BIOS failure? Pull out the HDD and stick it an external USB drive enclosure, buy a new computer. Life goes on. (June 4, 2015, 8:35 pm)
