Personally i have never been able to have a decent conversation with anyone who listens primarely to rap, because of the gap between levels of mind (or "the speed and quality of reacting to your enviroment", if you prefer) thus leaving me bored.

By personal experiences i would still say that complexity of the music one listens, reflects the complexity of their mind. (There are exeptions, but they are rare)

I listen to rap and make hip-hop. To me trance music is something only gay people would listen, but making a big thing, or even saying some style of music is bad is just plain stupid -- something a person with a simple mind would say.

Music is a form of expression and art, it can't be categorized into good or bad, there's just a huge amount of music in the world, some you like and some you don't. Different songs mean different things to people, depending on culture, their personal history and the associations they have on the song.

Because I make music myself, I always want to learn more and get in to genres that I don't know that well yet. Hating music just closes doors for you and makes it impossible for you to ever understand different kinds of music.

To sum it up: you don't have to like everything, but you don't need to hate anything.
