Anonymous: #3 - yes, although you might be better off "missing" the rest. In the described part, either wait until Marle lies on the ground and click her, or click her top or bottom three times. From there there's a few branching options you can follow, but they all end with her pushed up against a tree and..."leveling up" with the monsters (as far as I can tell).
