#3: Nah, more like generally Eastern European. The music is vaguely of gypsy/Hungarian/Balkans style, I'd say.

The Count is a brilliant character, starting with his name. And it really fits into the older folklore mythos, where vampires WERE obsessive-compulsive counters. You strew something, like seeds or whatnot, around their graves, and they'd be forced to count them all, until morning broke and they had to return to their coffin, and then they'd have to start over again next night. It's brilliant.
