Either Valve made third party model animation impossible, or people who have been making videos like this are too dumb to use it, I guess

#4 Actually the style is intentional. It's derivative of older Gmod videos, before Source Film Maker was even a thing. All Gmod could do was crude motions or painstaking stop motion. Literally all we had to work with, the most advanced we had was puppetry of limbs with ropes and on-rails movement. People embraced it, combining crude movement and exaggerated stop motion. It's extremely characteristic and recognizable.

This art style in 3D animations was popular for the duration before Source Film Maker was released to the public. You'll find Source Film Maker videos that are a tribute to the style, but it's basically come and gone as an art movement. It was however extremely influential, internet noteworthy, and important to youtube history.

The more you know
