Anime 'is' for kids. Stop deluding yourself. It's cartoons, even if it's from Japan it's still just cartoons.

I'd say Simpsons -> most anime, any time. Even though Simpsons is rubbish.
And yes Simpsons is more adult, because it has an adult humor with might be a bit more sophisticated then pantie-shots of underage-looking lolita girls prancing around, fighting in giant robots to save the universe.
