Long story short I've developed an incurable case of misanthropy. However, at one point in my life (not too long ago actually) I was the person in this Flash. I felt like I needed someone else to care and to care about, but no matter how hard I tried, I could not make it happen. It is the *worst feeling in the world*. It led me to do some really, really stupid things, and if I could, I'd travel back in time to that point and shoot myself for being such an idiot.

I'm sure there are couples out there who find happiness in each like in the first part of this, but for others, such things are better left in the realm of fantasy. Reality is rarely as beautiful as dreams. I find it more meaningful and fulfilling to find strength and independence in myself, rather than relying on others for meaning.

i can see your point, but you shouldn't just give up! there is more to life than strength in individuality, noble and enviable a state as that might be. life with someone else can never be perfect, i've been there and i agree with you, it's never like the picture books and is sometimes hell.
but the other times are the ones that matter more, the ones that give meaning; they will be remembered like the bad, but they serve to show that you came on through sad times into good.
but to get something out of life, you need to put something in first.

The Flash was just called Untitled-1.swf and had a relaxing visual with gears moving around. Perhaps if people can track down the creator, we could find the song

You are born alone, you live alone, you think alone, your perception of the world is your own, you die alone. Trying to find someone else to go up into just to take that pain away (provided you suffer it as almost all mortal idiots do) is just an escape from reality. Some people (myself included) simply don't suffer such things. We are not afraid of death, we know there is no good or evil just perception (note that what most say is "good" is better just because doing stuff together makes you talk and its good for the mind to exercise with better and worse minds and being "evil" makes that harder), there is no religion or "God" nor an afterlife and its just pure chance we are here, highly probably I might add (though the existence of life could be inevitable based on the fundamental rules that governs this physical universe but we just simply dont know yet so why bother?) Why bother making up stuff that cannot be proven or aren't even plausible? All you do is making your life a big fat lie.

So, if my life were to be a big fat lie, and it were to end as a big fat lie, who would care in the end? Who would it hurt in the end? If not myself, than no one else. If feelings are a lie, if true love is a lie, then, call me a liar, I don't care. A feeling as great as love, even if it is merely an illusion, still feels better than nothing at all. If feeling is a lie, I don't care about the truth. Love just feels too good to deem fake only for the sake of others. I will live my "lie", but at least I will be happy, and so will my true love. ;-)

Couple of thoughts

I actually find it more entertaining to f5 the flash(to reloop the music) and read all these replies :).
It's really interesting to see how all these posts radiate with their typers deep views of life, each with their own. Only thing that links these posts together is this very modern self-centered/egoistic way of thinking. Be it cynical monist materialism of #28-29, scarred past of #7 or open optimistic emotions of #35, everyone are thinking of themselves, how they feel, and how they are right... Not that it's bad thing, it's good to know your reality, grow strong and be honest with your feelings ;). Well i might as well leave this monster post to this.
Listen to this music and read these comments, they are the very thoughts of real people. You might learn something.

Might as well join the party

This flash portrays a truly sad story. One wants someone else to be there for them because one can not live in isolation, without going crazy of course. I've been in this situation before, but I tell myself that someone will come at the right moment. It always happens. It did for my parents, for my cousins' parents and for my friends' parents. After I cool down, I like to think of all of the good times I will have as a single person and all the fun and excitement I have experienced thus far. It is quite a lot, and if I were to die today, I would die satisfied.

I don't know if I'm tricking myself to believe a fantasy, but I know that my parents share a deep relationship with each other that I identify as love. My dad used to work hard for his kids, until his back was broken. Now, my mom is working for the whole family. Why doesn't she just stand up like an individual and demand her respect? Why doesn't she order her kids to find a job? I'll tell you why. She loves us.

I could be wrong, though. I could just be one man in a sea of nothingness just dreaming of this paradise island. Man, what a paradise this is. I'm thankful for all that I am ... and all that I am not.
